INTRODUCTION
I'm Andy, owner/operator of Sterling RV Services. I feel spoiled leaving this business, to be honest. It's a bit of a dream job: set your own hours, make good money, and enjoy your work. But my career has taken a different turn, so I'm passing the torch.
COMPANY BACKGROUND
Sterling RV Services rose to become the Laurel Highlands’ most successful mobile RV repair company. Founded in 2023, the company has 90+ 5-star Google reviews, excellent local relationships, and a strong pipeline that keeps the phone ringing through the camping season (mid-March through mid-November).
The company focuses on repair of RVs, including trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. Approximately half of visits are residential; half are at campgrounds. During its first two years, the company operated as a one-person enterprise; in its third, the company hired seasonal help, serving 2-5 customers daily.
Sterling RV Services currently has a 75-minute service area, including areas around Somerset County such as Johnstown PA, Deep Creek MD, and the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh. There is a shortage of high-quality local competition, and many other RV service centers are booked out far in advance.
WHO SHOULD BUY THIS BUSINESS?
If you enjoy working with your hands, treat people honestly, and have a drive to succeed - this opportunity is for you!
Let’s be clear - this isn’t a passive income opportunity. This is the chance to fill my shoes. You’ll be stepping into a robust job framework. I built this business knowing one day I would probably pass it on.
Excellent for a solo owner, 2-person partnership, or even a 3- to 4-person team (e.g. office manager, two technicians, and an assistant).
Could be operated by a local resident year-round or an itinerant "snowbird" owner working seasonally.
(!) IMPORTANT: You DON'T NEED to be a certified RV technician. While being RVTAA- or RVTI-certified would be helpful, so long as you bring similar tradesman skills (electrician, mechanic, contractor), you'll learn the rest.
Need customers? Just pick up the phone! I built a website (WordPress) and an online presence (Google + RVHelp + online directories) that keeps the phone ringing almost all year.
Scheduling? I already have a field management software (Zoho CRM) where you can search details (and photographs) of any customer, visit, or job.
Tools? I have $12,000+ worth of general and specialty tools that you would have to buy anyway.
Inventory? There are $12,000 worth of materials in climate-controlled storage near Somerset, PA.
Ordering? I have purchasing accounts with major distributors (NTP-Stag, United RV, etc.) and dozens of strategic retailers.
Payments? I already have dip/key-in card readers (PayPal Zettle) and over-the-phone payment processors.
Estimates? You can lookup estimates for almost any job using my $400 NCM Associates 2023 Flat Rate Guide.
Insurance or warranty jobs? I already have existing accounts with dozens of OEMs, insurance companies, and extended warranty providers.
Finances? Meticulous internal financial records were maintained through Zoho Books. You’ll get all ending balances.
Legal and registration? No special trade licenses are required; just choose your business structure.
CONCLUSION
Buying my business saves you MONEY. You'd already have to spend thousands on parts, tools, software, website, etc. -- and then you'd have to work double-time for 6+ months to ramp up and earn a good reputation. When you buy Sterling RV Services, you get a VIP pass to the front of the line.
The sale is for the assets only. You'll receive all physical and intangible assets, but you'll operate under a new Tax ID number.
(Since I can't attach documents to a Craigslist ad, please contact me for a list of assets included and financial histories. Exact annual net profits will be shared with serious prospective buyers. However, please know that a $75,000 - $105,00 annual owner profit is a very realistic expectation for working 40-50 hours/week March-November. There is sufficient incoming work to work 80+ hours, if you so choose!)
It's not too good to be true. I built a good business, and I'm ready to sell it. You'll probably be turning jobs down! (I certainly was.) If you're ready to be your own boss, let's talk.
