One of the trickiest parts of ball joint replacement on Volvo P2 models is proper installation of the new ball joint. Correctly aligning and pressing the new one in can be very tedious and frustrating. This tool takes the guess work out.
Simply place the bolt holes of the new ball joint over the 2 alignment pins and loosely thread the pins in. Then place the tool over the ball joint and alignment pins and gently tap it fully into place with a mallet. Remove alignment pins, thread in the bolts and voilà!
The tool kit also includes 4 slide hammer adapters for ball joint removal. For those of you with a threaded slide hammer these make ball joint removal a simple affair as well. Use the correct adapter to thread the ball joint stud onto your slide hammer and hammer away. Included adapters are: M12x1.75, M14x1.5, M14x2.0 and 5/8"x18.
Used this tool one time to replace my 2002 V70 ball joints. It works really well and does it right the first time without issues or stress. Also saves a lot of time. Well worth the money!
It sucks having to buy specialized tools for something as simple as a ball joint but for P2 Volvos you absolutely have to have this. It does the trick and is well made. Install without this tool would be VERY difficult instead of simple.
